Berries are a rich source of antioxidants and vitamin C and have a low glycaemic load, meaning they don’t cause a spike in blood sugar levels. They add a beautiful flavour and sweetness to a smoothie. A sprinkling of Acai or Goji berries can also boost the antioxidant content of a smoothie.
To a blender add:
- 1 cup blueberries
- Chunk of ginger
- 2 tablespoons protein powder (hemp, pea or brown rice)
- 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 2 tsp acai
- 2 tsp maca
- 600ml water or coconut water
- Pinch stevia (optional)
Directions:
Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender for around 20 seconds and enjoy straight away.
